Janet Yellen has just made history as she becomes the first woman to hold the position of Treasury Secretary. With this prominent position, Yellen will spearhead the $1.9 “American Rescue Plan” through congress and oversee its hope-full and successful execution. Within that plan includes $1,400 stimulus checks as promised by President Joe Biden, expanded unemployment benefits for those currently out of work, and increased funding for Covid-19 vaccinations and testing through out the country. Yellen’s appointment to Treasury of Secretary is ground breaking, but she’s no stranger to breaking down barriers and walking over them. In her prestigious career, she was the first woman to run the Federal Reserve and lead the White House Council of Economic Advisers, and now will be the first ever to have lead three of the most powerful economic entities in government.
