After a remarkable 17 years in the NBA, which includes two NBA championship rings with the Cleveland Cavaliers and Los Angeles Lakers, retired NBA guard J.R. Smith is enrolling at the prestigious HBCU (Historically Black College University), North Carolina A&T State University. With a concentration in Liberal Studies, Smith said it was always a goal of his to attend college. He was once slated to attend the University Of North Carolina At Chapel Hill before deciding that he would enter the 2004 NBA draft straight out of high school. What makes J.R.’s decision even more intriguing is that he will apply for eligibility to try out and be apart of the A&T golf team. He should meet the NCAA eligibility requirements, and it’s believed that Smith has a strong chance of the making team, albeit his natural ability on the hardwood is without question, it is said his game on the green is also pretty impressive. J.R. Smith will be apart of the 2025 graduating class, and an incoming freshmen this year. Good luck to all students pursuing their academic dreams. AGGIE PRIDE!
