Founded in 2002 by Tesla CEO and founder Elon Musk, Space X was created to help usher in era of commercial flights from earth to outer space. 19 years later, Musk is making good on his promise with the launching of the Inspiration 4 mission. Inspiration 4 is headed by Jared Isaacman, founder and CEO of “Shift4 Payments”, medical officer Hayley Arceneaux, a physician assistant at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital; mission specialist Chris Sembroski, an Air Force veteran and aerospace data engineer; and mission pilot Sian Proctor, a geoscientist, entrepreneur and trained pilot. Space X’s “Dragon” spacecraft and “Falcon 9” rocket are carrying the commercial astronauts into space with a mission objective of raising $200 million for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and studying the human body in space in order to advance human health on Earth and in space. Dragon and its crew will orbit earths atmosphere every 90 minutes during their multi-day journey. Once their mission concludes, Dragon will reenter Earth’s atmosphere for a soft water landing off of Florida’s coast. The ultimate mission of integrating our society and culture into a multi-planetary system continues to push forward.
