Barring mutual agreements between the NBA and cities Las Vegas (Nevada) and Seattle (Washington), at the end of the 2023-2024 season, the NBA is looking to expand its 30 team roster to 32 with a new professional team in Las Vegas and the re-emergence of the iconic Seattle Supersonic franchise in Seattle, Washington. With their last official season being in 2008 before the franchise was relocated to Oklahoma City, the fan base in Seattle have longed for the return of their beloved Super Sonics for 14 years now. The franchise would win its first NBA championship in 1979, followed by three Western Conference championships in 1978, 1979, and 1996. It’s still very early in the proceedings of these deals, and it’s reported that the NBA wants to wait until its TV deal ends in 2024.
